Renault South Africa maintained its position as a top three seller of Renault Sport (RS) models in the French marque’s Asia-Africa Region during 2011. Japan took top spot with Australia coming in second place.

According to Wayne van der Merwe, Senior Product Manager at Renault SA, the market had maintained its steady recovery during the last quarter of 2011 with Renault Sport models continuing to find favour amongst South African car buyers in search of style combined with speed and performance.

While sales of Renault Sport had declined during the global economic meltdown in 2009, he added, slow recovery during 2010 had translated into steady growth during the first half of 2011. “For the period September - December 2011, unit sales of RS models were up more than 18% per month based on the average monthly sales figures for the preceding eight months.

“While Renault Sport models are marketed throughout our dealer network, we also have four Renault Sport Specialist dealerships conveniently located throughout central Gauteng,” continued Van der Merwe. “East Rand Renault, Bryanston Renault, The Glen Renault and Clearwater Renault focus on the entire Renault product range but also have an area dedicated to showcasing our RS models with staff able to offer highly specialised sales and after-sales service and support.

“With speed comes responsibility and Renault’s comprehensive Advanced Driver Training course comes standard with every purchase of a new Renault Sport model,” he concluded.

In addition, all vehicles come standard with Renault’s 5yr/150 000km warranty and model-specific service plans, further supported by the Renault Confiance Programme for complete peace of mind motoring.

Renault and Renault Sport will be in the spotlight again this year with their title sponsorship event, the Renault Simola Hillclimb, as part of the annual Knysna Speed festival from 18 to 20 May 2012.
