At the 2012 GenevaInternational Motor Show last week, Toyota unveiled one of the most progressive cars of the show. The FT-Bh Concept uses a hybrid powertrain to return some truly astonishing figures which, even if they are only half true, would still be quite amazing.
Power comes from a 1.0-litre2-cylinder petrol engine but is not confirmedyet. However, its fuel efficiency is official. At least for a concept. So on average Toyota says it will return a mind-blowing 2.1 litres per 100km of travel, as well as 49 g/km in C02 emissions.
The highly efficient powertrainis complemented by a low body weight of 786kg, which is actually less than that of the baseline Yaris. At the same time, it’s not small by any means, measuring almost 4 metres in length, 1.7m in width, 1.4m high and has a wheelbase of 2.6m.
Some of actions taken to improve the aerodynamics include the replacement of airflow-disrupting side door mirrors with tiny cameras, latches in place of handles to open the doors and a pagoda-style roof with a dropped rear section.
